Re: Account Number [XXXXXX]

To [Debt Collector]:

I am writing in response to your recent communication regarding the above-referenced account.  To be clear, I do not acknowledge that this debt is valid or that I owe the amount you claim.  I am disputing the debt in its entirety, and I require further documentation before I can consider any action on this matter.

In accordance with my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), I am requesting that you provide the following information:

  1. Complete Breakdown of the Debt: Please provide a detailed breakdown of the total amount claimed, including any interest, fees, or additional charges added to the original balance.  Additionally, provide the date when the debt allegedly became overdue and explain how the balance has been calculated.

  2. Information Regarding the Original Creditor: Specify the name of the original creditor and the amount that was originally owed.  If the debt has changed hands, please provide details regarding the transfer, including all documentation.

  3. Proof of Ownership and Legal Authority to Collect: I require documented proof that Midland Credit Management has the legal right to collect this debt.  This includes any contracts, agreements, or documentation showing that Citi transferred or sold the debt to you.

  4. Verification of the Debt’s Validity: Provide any documents that demonstrate my legal obligation to pay this debt, including signed contracts or agreements that show I am responsible for the balance.

  5. Statute of Limitations: Please provide information regarding whether this debt is still within the statute of limitations and how that was calculated.

  6. Licensing Information: If Midland Credit Management is licensed to collect debts in my state, please provide the license number and the name of the issuing agency.

Until I receive this information, I dispute the validity of this debt and demand that you cease all collection activities.  Further, I request that any negative reporting to credit reporting agencies be removed until this matter is resolved.

Please respond to this letter in writing and provide all requested information to the address listed above.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.  I look forward to your prompt response.

Regards,
